Target Audience Research

What is a target audience?

A target audience is a particular group at which a product is aimed at, in this case a film.

In order to help decide our target audience and film genre, we made and conducted a survey on people from a range of ages to find out which are the most popular genres for each age group.
We used social media to help spread our survey and collect a range of results.

When analysing our results we could see that the most popular genre is action followed by thriller. When looking at the individual responses, we also found that people in the age range 12-24 preferred action and thrillers whereas people above that age tended to prefer comedies and rom-coms.

The data received from our results allows us to effectively choose a genre for our film whilst also ensuring we are aiming it at the right audience.
